It seems that expansion port 2 has 32 pins (exclude the thick 19v on the sides)
while expansion port 3 has 40 pins (exclude the thick 19v on the sides)
but yet you can plug in expansion port 2 into 3 or vice versa??
I found pinout of expansion port 3, but nothing for expansion port 2..

Thats not close enough to see the pins

Well from what I've read I don't believe expansion port 2 and 3 are compatible, hints the need for an adapter

I would think that too, but when I count the pins of the PR1010 dock its 16, yet on the tx1000 its 20.
(all exclude the 19v power pins on the side ends)
I brought a broken docking station (the "line of resistors" overheating?? from listening to too much music?? don't know how to diagnose it), yet the plug plugs into the tx1000 fine.
1) I want to get the usb pin from the dock cable..
and then 2) try to interface the NEC usb chip so that the USB to serial converter can also be used. (and I would also get a usb 6 port hub from the 2 NEC chips.. if it was VIA, SIS I would not bother, but NEC makes good chipset)
I think the PR1010 is not for tx1000, but yet the plug fits 100%
I have another compaq laptop too but it does not have dock connector, that part is "covered"
